Pro Glutenfrei is committed to promoting consumer advice and protection, especially in the interests of the safety of gluten-free food products.

Pro Glutenfrei is committed to supporting people who are affected by celiac disease, dermatitis herpetiformis Duhring or other diseases that require a gluten-free diet.

Pro Glutenfrei aims to raise awareness of the disease and its consequences.

Celiac disease is a chronic, autoimmune systemic disease and is based on a lifelong intolerance to the adhesive protein gluten.

The only treatment option for celiac disease is

a strict gluten-free diet for life!

Living gluten-free means completely avoiding types of grain such as wheat, spelled, rye, barley, emmer and einkorn wheat and products made from them as well as the exclusive consumption of gluten-free (<20 mg/kg gluten) products.

Product safety is therefore our top priority to which all our actions are subordinated.

Gluten-free nutrition is complicated, more expensive, not allways available, requires an understanding of the personal environment and a very high degree of lifelong discipline as even the tiniest traces of gluten may most likely have health consequences.

From our point of view further efforts in society, science and politicsare needed to draw attention to the needs and legitimate demands of those affected. Anyone who purchases food labeled as gluten-free should be sure that all the necessary requirements for their production have been carefully checked and that compliance with them has been ensured.

We set value to transparency, product safety and the verification of gluten-free labeled products for gluten <20 mg/kg by at random sampling.

Gluten-free foods labelled with the Crossed Grain Trademark (the registered trademark of the Association of European coeliac societies AOECS) must meet the requirements of the AOECS standard. A product licensed with the  Crossed Grain Trademark shall not contain more than
20 mg/kg (20 ppm) of gluten!

Pro Glutenfrei focus to the fact that the  Crossed Grain Trademark as a sign of quality shall ensure this high standard and compliance with these standards in order to guarantee the overall food safety of the licensed product and thus protect the health of the end consumer.

We would like to be the contact point for consumer support regarding complaints about the gluten-free nature of products advertised as gluten-free.

In the area of research, we believe that interdisciplinary cooperation between medicine, biochemistry, nutrition science and manufacturers can be intensified.

The packaging of gluten-free products is associated with high material costs and leads to large amounts of packaging waste. In terms of sustainability, it is our concern to stimulate and promote developments to reduce this. 

In many areas there is still far too little on offer for people who depend on gluten-free food. We would like to sensitise politicians to create conditions for improvements in this regard and are convinced that this will also open up economic opportunities in many domains.

Therefore, the purpose of the association is to promote food safety, health care, science and research as well as the implementation of and compliance with necessary standards and their procedures for certification.
